//respite
Site-specific meditation on the evolution of automated production.
//respite was part of a series of projection mapping installations exploring the history and impact of cultural phenomena such as colonialism, mass media, and artificial intelligence. The piece combines physical objects with found footage, digital illustrations, and algorithmically generated images to create an immersive experience. //respite explores the history of automated production and the unrealized promise of the industrial revolution in America. Rather than freeing workers from the monotony of the assembly lines, the increased productivity of automation has led to an endless cycle of increased demand and the never-ending pursuit of perpetual growth.
